"Locked" files on network drives
I work in a small office and we have all started to use Vista Business Edition. A number of us have started to experience issues where we try and open files on a network drive (Windows 2003 Server). You receive the following message in Office 2007 apps "File is locked for editing by....." or if you try and open a .jpg, Photo Gallery displays "Photo Gallery can't open this picture because it is being edited in another program". Checking the open files on the server confirms that the files are not open by anyone else, normally be closing the application down, or acknowledging the error and trying again, the fileopens up again with no error message. I have seen this issue before on XP SP1 PCs and it related to SMB. It was resolved in XP SP2. Looking through various posts on MSDN, people appear to be experiencing similiar (but not the exact problem) and it looks like some issues with SMB2. I would appreciate it if anyone else has experienced this issue and if they managed to overcome it. Thanks Steve
